Straightforward pricing · Three layers, itemised
You should be able to see where every dollar goes.
Most IT providers quote you one blended number and let you assume it is all their expertise. It is not. Part of it is Microsoft's licence fee, which they simply pass through. This page separates the two, prices RTS's own service per device, and shows the arithmetic.
Layer 1 — what RTS charges, per device: our own product. Layer 2 — what Microsoft charges for licences, passed through at cost. Layer 3 — where the line sits between watching and fixing. No setup fees. No long-term contract. Month-to-month.
What RTS charges, per device.
This is RTS’s own product — built, hosted and priced by us, on our own self-hosted stack. It is the only part of your bill we actually set. Priced per device, not per user — count your computers, multiply, done. Same rate for a household or a business. No setup fees. No long-term contracts required.
Set by RTS · Per device · Month-to-month
Monitoring
per device / month
Plus your Microsoft licence at Microsoft's rate, if you licence through RTS.
We watch. You get told, in plain English.
- Monitoring agents deployed and kept running
- Continuous checks — disk, memory, Defender, patch status, services
- Security event monitoring (self-hosted Wazuh)
- Alerts when something crosses a threshold
- A monthly health report per device
Monitoring + Fixes
per device / month
That is the $5 of monitoring plus $25 of fixing. Plus your Microsoft licence at Microsoft's rate, if applicable.
We watch, and we fix what the watching finds.
- Everything in Monitoring
- Every alert investigated, not just forwarded
- Security patches approved and installed on a schedule
- Defender and antivirus problems remediated
- Remote fix sessions for problems on that device
- Automatic service recovery and disk cleanup
Outside the agent
per job, up front
Anything our tooling cannot deliver to the device is scoped and priced before we start.
Project and hands-on work, priced honestly per job.
- New computer setup and migrations
- Microsoft 365 tenant administration and security projects
- On-site visits
- Training and how-to help
- Anything without an agent on it — network gear, printers
Separate from all of that: what Microsoft charges for your licences.
These are Microsoft's published rates, not RTS's. RTS resells them through the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider programme, which means they arrive on one consolidated invoice alongside everything else — but the rate itself is set by Microsoft, and RTS does not mark it up.
Set by Microsoft · Passed through at cost
| Microsoft 365 plan | Annual commitment | Before 1 Jul 2026 | Monthly commitment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Basic | $7.00 | $6.00 | — |
| Business Standard | $14.00 | $12.50 | $15.00 |
| Business Premium | $22.00 | unchanged | $26.40 |
Three things worth knowing about this layer
- The 1 July 2026 increase has already taken effect. Business Basic moved from $6.00 to $7.00 and Business Standard from $12.50 to $14.00. Business Premium was unchanged at $22.00.
- Existing customers stay on prior pricing until their first renewal after 1 July 2026. If you are already licensed, the increase reaches you at renewal, not immediately.
- Business Premium is the plan that includes Intune, Defender and Entra ID P1. That is why RTS's security work assumes it — the controls we manage on the Standard and Premium tiers live inside that licence.
Committing annually costs less per month
An annual commitment is billed at a lower monthly rate than a month-to-month licence term: Business Standard is $14.00 against $15.00, and Business Premium is $22.00 against $26.40. That is Microsoft's structure, not ours. The RTS management fee in Layer 2 stays month-to-month either way.
Where the line sits: $5 is watching, $25 is fixing.
The RTS Pack's $30 is two things added together, and it is worth being precise about which is which. RTS self-hosts its monitoring stack, so the tooling cost is close to zero — and that saving is reflected in the rate rather than kept.
Set by RTS · Per device, not per user
Device-based, not user-based
A device is a computer, not a person. A user with a laptop and a desktop is two devices, and is billed as two devices. Count computers, not staff — for most businesses the device number is higher than the headcount, and we would rather you knew that before the invoice arrives than after. The same arithmetic works for a household: two computers on the RTS Pack is $60 a month, flat.
Why it costs what it costs
RTS self-hosts both halves of this stack: Tactical RMM for remote monitoring and management, and Wazuh for security event monitoring. Both are open source and both run on our own infrastructure, so the per-endpoint software cost to RTS is effectively zero. We are not reselling somebody else's per-seat licence with a margin stapled to it.
For context on what the commercial equivalent costs — a paid RMM plus a paid SIEM — here are the published market figures we can point at:
- NinjaOne publishes $1.50–$3.75 per device / month, with small fleets typically landing at the upper end of that range.
- Datto RMM starts at $2.99 per endpoint, with real-world quotes reported in the $1.25–$5.00 range.
- SIEM is priced separately and sits on top of those figures — it is not included in an RMM subscription.
Taken together, a commercial RMM-plus-SIEM stack realistically runs $8–$12 per endpoint / month — before anyone has fixed anything. RTS charges $5 for the watching, and $30 with the fixing included. Those are published vendor ranges for comparison — they are not a claim about what your current provider charges you, which we have no way of knowing.
What this is not — read this part
Two limits we would rather state plainly here than have you discover later:
- This is monitoring and alerting. It is not a 24/7 staffed security operations centre. RTS is one person. The tooling watches your endpoints continuously and raises alerts continuously, but there is not a room of analysts reading them around the clock, and we will not pretend otherwise. If round-the-clock human eyes on a screen is what your business genuinely requires, you need a staffed SOC, and we will tell you so rather than sell you this.
- Windows endpoints only. The monitoring agents RTS deploys today are Windows agents. macOS and Linux endpoint coverage is not part of this tier — do not budget for it on the strength of this page.
Exactly what the $25 of fixing covers
The useful distinction is between watching and doing. The $5 buys the watching — everything in the Monitoring card above. The $25 buys the doing, and the boundary is precise: work our tooling can deliver to that device.
In the $25
- Every alert investigated and explained, not just forwarded
- Security patches approved, installed on a schedule, reboots handled
- Defender and antivirus problems fixed — re-enabled, updated, scanned
- Services restarted, disks cleaned, slowdowns diagnosed and fixed remotely
- Remote fix sessions for problems on that device
- Software fixes and updates pushed through the agent
Not in the $25 — quoted separately
- Training and how-to questions
- Microsoft 365 tenant and account administration
- New device setup, migrations, project work
- On-site visits
- Anything without an agent on it — network gear, printers
- Data recovery and full rebuilds after total failure
Inside the Pack, we never bill twice. If our monitoring raises an alert and the fix can be delivered through the agent, the fix is covered — full stop. Billing again for acting on an alert our own monitoring raised would give us an incentive to keep finding things, and you should never hire anyone whose incentives point that way. Work in the second column is real work too; it is simply quoted before it starts, so nobody negotiates terms in the middle of a problem.
Why the $5 tier exists on its own
Monitoring exists to generate findings. It surfaces the missing patch, the antivirus that switched itself off, the drive that has started logging errors. On the $5 tier you are told about all of it, promptly and in plain English — and the fixing is yours to arrange: upgrade the device to the Pack, or ask us for a one-off quote.
We sell it that way deliberately. Some people want eyes on their computers without a service commitment, and that is a legitimate thing to want. The one thing we ask is that you choose it knowingly: the $5 buys the telling, not the fixing. If being told about problems you then have to deal with sounds like the worst of both worlds, the Pack is the product you actually want.
All three layers together
Work out your own number.
Set your device count, your plan and your Microsoft licences. Every line of the arithmetic is shown, because the entire point of this page is that nothing is hidden inside a blended rate.
The worked example: a 12-person business.
Twelve users, fifteen devices, on Microsoft 365 Business Premium with every device on the RTS Pack. This is a fixed illustration — it does not change when you use the calculator below.
| Microsoft 365 Business Premium 12 users × $22.00 — Microsoft's rate, passed through | $264.00 |
|---|---|
| The RTS Pack — monitoring + fixes 15 devices × $30.00 — per device, not per user | $450.00 |
| Setup fee | $0.00 |
| Contract minimum | $0.00 |
| Total per month | $714.00 |
| Total per year $714.00 × 12 | $8,568.00 |
A household does the same arithmetic without the licence line: two computers on the Pack is $60.00 a month; two computers on monitoring alone is $10.00.
Your figures
Change any control. The itemisation updates immediately.
| Microsoft licences 12 users × $22.00 | $264.00 |
|---|---|
| RTS, per device 15 devices × $30.00 — the RTS Pack | $450.00 |
| Setup fee | $0.00 |
| Contract minimum | $0.00 |
| Total | $714.00 $8,568.00 per year |
Of that monthly total, $264.00 is Microsoft's licence fee passed through at cost, and $450.00 is what RTS charges.
Against the cost of hiring someone
The hire figure is the salary range quoted in our own comparison below, and it is a range, not a point. Benefits, payroll tax, equipment and cover for holiday and sick leave sit on top of it and vary by employer — so we are not going to reduce this to a single savings percentage or a payback period. The two numbers are here side by side; the arithmetic that matters to your business is yours to do, and an employee and a managed service are not identical things in any case.
Calculator unavailable — here are the rates in full
The interactive calculator needs JavaScript. Every figure it uses is listed below, and the worked example above is complete, so you can do the arithmetic directly: (users × Microsoft rate) + (devices × RTS plan rate) = your monthly total. Setup fee and contract minimum are both $0.00. Multiply the monthly total by 12 for the annual figure.
| Line | Basis | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| M365 Business Basic (annual) | per user / month | $7.00 |
| M365 Business Standard (annual) | per user / month | $14.00 |
| M365 Business Standard (monthly) | per user / month | $15.00 |
| M365 Business Premium (annual) | per user / month | $22.00 |
| M365 Business Premium (monthly) | per user / month | $26.40 |
| RTS Monitoring — watching only | per device / month | $5.00 |
| The RTS Pack — monitoring + fixes | per device / month | $30.00 |
| Work outside the agent | per job | Quoted up front |
| Setup fee | one-off | $0.00 |
| Contract minimum | commitment | $0.00 |
| In-house IT hire, for comparison | per year + benefits | $60,000–80,000 |
Versus the alternatives
Cheaper than an IT hire. More capable than break-fix.
The three ways a small business usually solves this, side by side.
| Feature | In-house hire | Break-fix | RTS |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | $60–80K/yr + benefits | Unpredictable | Flat rate, per device |
| Microsoft 365 | Depends on hire | Reactive only | Specialized expertise |
| Response time | Business hours | Schedule a visit | Direct line to engineer |
| Proactive care | Maybe | No | Yes (RTS Pack) |
| Scalability | One person | No relationship | Scales with your team |
| Contract | Employment contract | Per-incident | Month-to-month |
